The Right Curl for Your Lash Extensions

Nearly every woman has longed for perfect eyelashes at one time or another in her life. We see our favorite stars sporting perfectly lush and exquisitely curled lashes whenever they’re at some red-carpet affair and we think to ourselves, “Those should be my lashes!” To be fair, it’s hard not to think such thoughts – especially when your natural lashes are short, straight, and uninspiring. Thankfully, eyelash extensions provide a way for us to enjoy lashes that are far closer to perfect than our natural lashes. To enjoy those benefits, though, we need to be aware of our lash needs – including the best options for eyelash curl.

Not all Lashes are Created Equal

Here’s the thing: natural eyelashes come in all sizes, lengths, and shape. Some are thick, while others are fine. Some grow to amazing lengths, while others never seem to grow. And, of course, those lashes can all have different types of curls, ranging from dramatically-curled to no curl at all. Now, in a perfect world, none of that would matter. You would just go to the salon, get a set of perfect extensions that make your lashes look just like those stars, and call it a day.

Reality doesn’t work like that.

The reality is that your natural lashes may not support the type of extensions needed to obtain that exact look. After all, each lash needs to be able to support the weight of the extension that’s glued to it. As you might expect, longer, thicker extensions tend to weigh more than shorter, thinner extensions. That’s why technicians try to match extension thickness to your natural lashes, with length determined by the ability of your natural lashes to support the extra weight.

When It Comes to Curl…

And then there’s the all-important curl of your lashes. Technicians have flexibility when it comes to curl, and that enables them to apply extensions that will truly transform your look. Curl can range from the subtly curved shape that we see with most natural lashes to a more dynamic curl that looks almost like the letter “L.” So what criteria should you consider when you’re choosing your curl?
That decision is one that is best made in concert with your technician, since it may depend largely upon the diameter and length of your extensions – as well as the shape and strength of your natural lashes. You will also need to think about the look you’re trying to achieve, and why. If you just want to improve your short, straight natural lashes, then a moderately-curled set of extensions will probably be the perfect fit. On the other hand, if you’re getting extensions for some big event, then you may want to ask about a more dramatic option.

At Ebenezer Eyelash, our highly-trained and state-licensed technicians are always there to help talk you through the decision-making process.
